'ONE SHOULD EITHER BE A WORK OF ART, OR WEAR A WORK OF ART'

Sunday 25 October 2015

The coat is my absolute life. I wear it every single day. I just find it tops an outfit off. Also, I'VE DISCOVERED COLOUR. This is the second colourful piece I've bought this year and it's perfect with this skirt.

I'm finally at a point in my life where I like my hair. This is first time I haven't wanted to get a haircut because I like it so much the way it is...

It's happened... I've fallen in love with a pair of trousers!! I didn't think it was possible but it is. I love buying clothes that I know I can keep forever and I think with these tobacco coloured beauties, I can. They're so clean and smart while still making a statement. I love them.

We also visited Espressini which is the most amazing cafe ever. We had Yespressini's which are basically little glasses of over indulgent happiness. I love love love the decor of this cafe! I could sit in there all day and the baristas are lovely!

This week, the very first issue of Ei8ht Magazine was published online. It includes an interview with fashion designer, Caterina Schmitt and myself. Last Friday I was asked if I want to become fashion editor of the magazine. I am so happy and grateful for this and owe it to this blog and therefore you for getting me there.

It is my pleasure to share the magazine with you, which you can read here:

There’s no doubt that there were many discussions about London Fashion Week’s move from Somerset House to the Brewer Street Car. It was risky choice and not one that I fully understand. The general consensus from photographers, onlookers and bloggers was that they didn’t like it. Brewer Street Car Park is located right in the centre of Soho and on a mildly busy road, the traffic was at a stand still for most of Monday and Tuesday and the park was still in use for the public. There is no other way to describe it other than chaotic.

London Fashion Week’s previous venue, Somerset House.
The courtyard at Somerset House was the most ideal location for networking, street photography and interviews. There was no risk of being run over and you could happily walk around and not get in anyone’s way and photographers got a chance to capture celebrities and industry specialists as they entered the venue. It was picturesque and home to the British Fashion Council (BFC), which parents London Fashion Week (LFW). It seems as though this is the perfect location for one of fashion’s biggest events, so, why the big move?! It could be that the BFC felt that Fashion Week needed changing up a little, that people were getting bored of Somerset House and they were draw to the lights of Soho....

I decided about a month ago to become... vegan. It was mostly a health choice because diets just don't work with me and I wanted to lose some weight so that my clothes would fit properly again. I figured if I told myself that I could have a muffin or a brownie but chose not to because of what was in it then I wouldn't have them. Plus I would be cutting about a lot of calories and fat from not eating meat and milk and cheese. There is also a lot of people saying that eating a vegan diet makes them less tired which is a problem I've always had - I used to have a nap at least once a day regardless of what I was doing.
These 2 videos really made the decision for me:

SO what has happened after a month? Well, I don't have to nap anymore and I rarely lay in, I don't dread my alarm going off at 7.30. My hair has grown and my nails are stronger. I've lost a stone and I generally feel happier and healthier. I think it's true that we are told we have to eat as much meat as we do. Even if I hadn't decided to be vegan, after watching the TED Talks video, I would have cut out some of the meat I eat. I also cook more. You have to be so much more inventive what what you make to avoid plain salad and steamed veg and that's fun!

There is one thing that I miss and that's scrambled eggs. But, because I'm telling myself I can have them if I want them bad enough, I don't want them.

The hidden horrors of carnism and the animal industry are awful but sometimes they are rammed down our throats and that's not what I'm trying to do. There are so many benefits to a non-violent lifestyle that it's worth thinking about what you're actually eating in a 'normal' diet. Plus Almond Milk tastes so much better than Cow's milk.

I absolutely love the bohemian/60's vibe that walked hand in hand with the summer that the UK supposedly had. As we enter fall, I'm not completely prepared to let this trend go so, I wore this denim skirt with a knitted jumper. Why the hell not?! I think it makes the perfect pre-fall outfit.

I bought this hat because of the comments it was receiving in H&M about how ridiculous. Girls were like, 'Who would buy that?!' I thought me and went and bought it. I felt sorry for the rep a hat was getting, I must be going mad. Then I had this vision of being on a beach in the south France wearing this hat and the sassiest Kyle Jenner-esque black bikini you can imagine with this hat.

I don't event think it looks ridiculous, I think it looks sassy and shady and high fashion and I have big things planned for this hat...

I LOVE THESE PHOTOS! As soon as I saw this piece of land which was a 2 minute walk from where we were staying in Crete, I knew I HAD to have some photos here. I have to give huge credit to my Dad for capturing the location so perfectly!!

I think this dress is actually a kaftan type thing but I don't think that would give it enough justice. I love getting summer clothes that you know will last for years and years and I think this dress is one of those pieces.  For me, summer fashion will always mean hippy/bohemian beautifulness...
